“Revival” in South Lobby, East

CTR-Culture-Atlanta

Located on the east side of the South entrance lobby, Revival is a mural installation created for The CTR that explores the cyclical nature of the human experience through abstraction, rhythm, and pattern. Through layered forms, movement, and interconnected visual language, the work reflects the ways we are constantly becoming.  Moving through seasons of birth, transformation, rest, connection, loss, renewal, and growth.

Deeply rooted in my love for Atlanta, the mural draws inspiration from the vibrancy that lives within the city itself; its streets, music, movement, culture, and the invisible rhythms that connect its people. The color palette mimics the pulse of Atlanta: a bold soulful, layered, and alive embrace.  Shapes move across the surface like songs, conversations, impressions, and memories, honoring the energy that has always existed here and the communities that continue to shape it.

Atlanta has long been a place of gathering, creativity, resilience, and cultural transformation. In many ways, this moment feels like another revival for the city, our world, and for this space itself.  A truly renewed chapter in a place that has historically brought people together for reasons that helped shape the world we know today. Now, it stands to do so again in new and evolving ways, cultivating global connection with innovation, love, and joy.  This work reflects that ongoing transformation: the beauty of people converging, growing, rebuilding, and imagining new futures together.

At its core, Revival speaks to the power of reconnection; returning to self, returning to one another, and evolving into something new. It is an acknowledgment that even through periods of uncertainty, stillness, or change, there is always movement toward growth, healing, and possibility. Through this installation, I hope to honor the connections formed within this space; past and present.  As we together, illuminate the ways these moments, people, and experiences that will continue to shape the steps of our future tomorrow.

Charity Hamidullah

Atlanta, GA

Charity Hamidullah is an Atlanta-based multidisciplinary artist and current Midtown Alliance Heart of the Arts artist-in-residence who transforms public spaces into vibrant reflections of identity, movement, and community. With over twenty years as a tattoo artist, her foundation in storytelling and mark-making now expands across city walls through large-scale murals and immersive public art.

Rooted in community engagement, her practice brings people into the design process—creating work that reflects shared histories and collective vision. She has collaborated with the City of Atlanta, Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC), Saltbox, Microsoft, and Target, using public art as a tool for connection, empowerment, and placemaking.

Working across neighborhoods and civic spaces, Hamidullah creates bold, color-rich environments that invite interaction, celebrate culture, and reimagine how communities see themselves within the public realm as she sets intentions of empowerment, connection and love.
